Description
Ceramide AS is a skin-identical lipid used in cosmetics to help support the barrier that keeps skin comfortable and hydrated. Ceramides are naturally found in the outer layer of skin, where they act like part of the “mortar” between skin cells. In formulas, Ceramide AS is mainly included to help reduce moisture loss, improve softness, and leave skin feeling smoother and more resilient.
It’s especially appealing for dry, tight, or barrier-stressed skin, and it often shows up in moisturizers, serums, cleansers, and body care. People who use exfoliants, retinoids, or live in dry climates may also appreciate it because it can help offset that stripped feeling. In hair care, ceramide ingredients are sometimes used to help condition and support a smoother, more polished feel.
Caveat: Ceramide AS is generally well tolerated, but a formula is only as good as its full ingredient list. If a product contains strong fragrances, acids, or other potentially irritating ingredients, those may matter more than the ceramide itself. As always, patch testing is a smart idea if your skin is very reactive.
