Descripción

Triheptanoin is a lightweight, clear oil made from glycerin and heptanoic acid, a seven-carbon fatty acid. In skincare, it’s valued as a fast-spreading emollient with a very low viscosity, which means it glides easily over skin and helps formulas feel silky rather than greasy. It can also act as a solvent and texture helper, improving the overall slip and elegance of creams, lotions, serums, and makeup.

For skin, triheptanoin mainly helps soften and smooth the surface while supporting a more comfortable, less dry feel. It’s especially appealing in products meant for people who dislike heavy oils or thick balms. In hair care, it can add lightweight conditioning, shine, and a smoother feel without much buildup. Because it’s so light, it often works well for normal to oily skin types, as well as anyone looking for a more elegant, non-sticky finish.

Caveat: triheptanoin is not a treatment ingredient, so it won’t replace actives that target acne, pigmentation, or barrier repair. As with any cosmetic ingredient, individual tolerance can vary, and very rich or oily-feeling products may still not suit everyone.
