Cetyl Palmitate is a waxy emollient made by combining cetyl alcohol and palmitic acid, fatty components often sourced from plant oils such as coconut or palm kernel. In formulas, it helps create a smooth, creamy texture and adds “body,” so lotions, creams, balms, and makeup feel richer and more substantial. It also supports the skin’s soft, conditioned feel by leaving behind a light, velvety film that helps reduce the look of dryness.
For skin and hair, cetyl palmitate mainly works as a texture enhancer and slip-giver. It can make products spread more easily, feel less greasy, and help hair conditioners or styling products glide through strands more smoothly. People who like cushiony moisturizers, richer cleansers, or balm-like formulas may especially enjoy it.
