Tyrosine

Tyrosine is an amino acid naturally found in the skin and hair, and in cosmetics it’s used as a supporting ingredient rather than a headline active. It’s best known as a building block for melanin, the pigment that gives skin and hair their color, so you’ll sometimes see it in products aimed at supporting a more even-looking, naturally radiant complexion or helping hair care formulas feel more conditioning and balanced.

For skin, tyrosine is often included in tanning or “sun-kissed” products because it may help support the skin’s pigment-making process, though it does not replace UV exposure or sunscreen. In hair care, it can appear in shampoos, conditioners, and treatments as part of formulas designed to support the look and feel of healthy hair. People who like amino acid-rich, skin-friendly formulas may appreciate it, especially in products focused on tone, glow, or hair conditioning.
