Descripción
Ceresin is a purified hydrocarbon wax, usually made by refining ozokerite. In cosmetic formulas, it acts mainly as a structure-builder and texture enhancer, helping products stay firm, smooth, and stable. You’ll most often find it in stick products like lipsticks, balms, deodorants, and some creams or pomades, where it helps prevent melting, improves glide, and gives a more polished finish.
For skin and hair, ceresin doesn’t work like an active treatment ingredient; its value is mostly in how it changes the feel and performance of a formula. It can help create a protective, water-resistant film that slows moisture loss and makes products feel more long-lasting on the skin or hair. People who like solid, easy-to-apply formulas often benefit from it, especially in lip and body products.
Caveats: ceresin is generally considered an inert cosmetic wax, but very rich or heavy formulas may not suit everyone’s preference, especially if you dislike occlusive textures. As with any ingredient, the full formula matters more than ceresin alone.
