Description
Potassium Hyaluronate is the potassium salt of hyaluronic acid, a water-binding ingredient commonly used in skincare and haircare. It’s prized for its ability to attract and hold moisture, helping formulas feel more hydrating without being heavy or greasy. Because it’s a smaller, water-soluble humectant, it can spread easily in serums, lotions, toners, and conditioners.
On skin, potassium hyaluronate helps reduce the look of dryness and can make the surface feel smoother, softer, and more plump. It’s especially useful for dehydrated, normal, combination, and mature skin, but many skin types can benefit from it. In hair products, it can support a softer feel and help improve the look of dry, rough strands by adding moisture.
Caveat: like other humectants, it works best when paired with a good moisturizer or occlusive to help seal in hydration. In very dry environments, humectants alone may not feel enough. It’s generally well tolerated, but as with any cosmetic ingredient, individual sensitivity is possible.
