Descripción
Oryza Sativa Starch is rice starch, a fine powder made from the grain of Oryza sativa. In cosmetics, it’s mainly used as a texture helper and absorbent. It can give formulas a soft, silky feel, reduce greasiness, and help powders, creams, and masks spread more smoothly. On skin, it often leaves a more matte, velvety finish; in hair products, it can help absorb excess oil at the roots and add a bit of body.
This ingredient is especially useful for people with oily or combination skin, or for anyone who likes lightweight, non-shiny formulas. It’s also common in setting powders, deodorants, dry shampoos, and soothing masks because it improves slip and helps control moisture on the surface. Since it’s generally gentle and fragrance-free in itself, it can fit well in minimalist formulas.
Caveat: Oryza Sativa Starch is not a treatment ingredient, so it won’t replace actives that target acne, dryness, or hair damage. In very powdery or heavily mattifying products, it may feel a little drying on already dry skin or hair if overused. As always, the overall formula matters more than the ingredient alone.
