Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate is a synthetic emollient ester made by combining cetearyl alcohol with ethylhexanoic acid. In skincare and haircare, it’s used mainly to add slip, softness, and a lightweight, silky feel. It spreads easily, absorbs quickly, and helps formulas feel less greasy or heavy than richer oils. Because it can also help blend oil and water phases, it’s a useful ingredient in lotions, creams, sunscreens, conditioners, and makeup.
On skin, it leaves a smooth, cushioned finish that can make dry or rough-feeling areas feel more comfortable without a thick residue.
