Description
CI 73360 is a cosmetic colorant, better known as a synthetic dye used to give products a vivid red to pink-red shade. It does not function as an active skincare treatment; instead, its main job is to provide color and help formulas look appealing and consistent. You’ll most often see it in makeup, lip products, hair color, bath products, and some personal care items where a bright, stable hue is desired.
For skin and hair, the benefit is mostly aesthetic: CI 73360 helps create the finished look of a product, whether that’s a bold lipstick, a tinted formula, or a colorful shampoo or conditioner. People who enjoy richly pigmented cosmetics or want a product with a specific shade may benefit from it. Because it is a dye rather than a nourishing ingredient, it doesn’t moisturize, repair, or treat skin or hair on its own.
Caveat: as with many color additives, some people with very sensitive skin may prefer to patch test new products, especially if they know they react to fragranced or heavily pigmented formulas. In well-formulated cosmetics, CI 73360 is used in small amounts for color, but the overall formula matters more than the pigment itself when judging how a product will feel on your skin or hair.
