Description
CI 60730 is a cosmetic colorant, better known as Ext. Violet 2. It’s used to give products a violet or purple tint, helping formulas look more appealing and sometimes balancing out unwanted yellow tones in shampoos, conditioners, creams, and makeup. It doesn’t act like an active skincare ingredient, so its main job is visual rather than treatment-based.
For skin and hair, CI 60730 doesn’t provide moisture, repair, or protection on its own, but it can improve the look of a product and make a formula feel more polished and intentional. People who enjoy tinted haircare, color-correcting products, or vividly colored cosmetics may see it in the ingredient list. It’s generally used in very small amounts, but as with any colorant, those with very sensitive skin or a history of reacting to fragranced or colored products may want to patch test.
Bottom line: CI 60730 is mainly there for color, not care. It can be useful in products where appearance matters, but it’s not the ingredient to look for if you want hydration, smoothing, or scalp benefits.
