Canola Oil

Canola Oil is a plant-derived oil pressed from the seeds of the canola plant, a type of rapeseed bred for low erucic acid content. In skincare and haircare, it acts mainly as an emollient and occlusive ingredient, helping soften the surface, reduce moisture loss, and leave skin feeling smoother and more comfortable. It’s naturally rich in fatty acids, especially oleic and linoleic acid, which support a supple, conditioned feel.

For skin, canola oil can be a good fit for dry, rough, or flaky areas that need extra cushioning and a more flexible feel. In hair products, it can help add slip, tame dryness, and improve manageability, especially on coarse or brittle strands. Because it has a relatively lightweight texture compared with some heavier oils, it may appeal to people who want nourishment without a very greasy finish.

Caveat: canola oil is not ideal for everyone. Very acne-prone or easily congested skin may prefer lighter formulas, and anyone with a sensitivity to plant oils should patch test first. As with any ingredient, the overall formula matters more than the oil alone.
