Descrizione
Tribehenin is a plant-derived triglyceride made from behenic acid, a long-chain fatty acid often sourced from oils like rapeseed. In cosmetics, it’s valued less for direct skin treatment and more for the way it helps formulas feel and perform better. It can act as a thickening or gelling agent, improve the structure of creams and balms, and help pressed powders hold together more firmly. It also supports heat stability in emulsions, which can make products more resistant to softening or separating in warmer conditions.
For skin, tribehenin mainly contributes a richer, smoother texture and can help leave formulas feeling more cushiony and less runny. In makeup, it’s especially useful in pressed powders, foundations, and sticks, where it helps with compacting, payoff, and a more even application. In hair products, it may be used to improve body, texture, and product consistency rather than to condition hair directly. People who like creamy, stable, and well-structured products may appreciate it most.
Caveat: tribehenin is generally a functional ingredient, not an active skincare star. It doesn’t target concerns like acne, pigmentation, or wrinkles on its own, and in very rich formulas it may feel heavy for those who prefer lightweight textures. As always, the overall formula matters more than any single ingredient.
