Polyquaternium-7 is a synthetic conditioning polymer used in many hair and skin products. It belongs to the “polyquaternium” family, which means it carries a positive charge that helps it cling to negatively charged surfaces like hair and skin. In formulas, that makes it useful for improving slip, softness, and a smoother feel without adding much weight.
For hair, Polyquaternium-7 can help reduce static, improve detangling, and make strands feel more manageable and less rough after cleansing. In skin care, it can add a silky, cushioned texture and help products spread more evenly. It’s especially helpful in shampoos, conditioners, leave-ins, body washes, and some lotions for people who want a softer finish or easier comb-through.
