Descripción
Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans are a broken-down form of glycosaminoglycans, which are naturally occurring sugar chains found in the skin’s extracellular matrix. In cosmetics, they’re used mainly for their moisture-binding and skin-conditioning properties. Because the molecules are hydrolyzed into smaller pieces, they can spread more easily in formulas and help support a smoother, more hydrated feel on the skin or hair.
For skin, this ingredient is often included in products aimed at dryness, dullness, or a loss of suppleness. It can help improve the look of plumpness and softness by attracting and holding water at the surface. In hair care, it may contribute to a more conditioned, less rough feel. People with dehydrated, mature, or easily tight-feeling skin may especially appreciate it, though it can suit many skin types.
Caveat: hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans are supportive ingredients, not miracle workers. Their effects are usually subtle and depend on the full formula, especially the presence of other humectants and occlusives. If you have very reactive skin, it’s always smart to patch test a new product.
