Description
Zea Mays Oil is corn oil, a plant-derived oil pressed from the germ of corn kernels. In cosmetics, it’s valued mainly as an emollient: it helps soften skin and hair, smooth rough texture, and reduce the feeling of dryness by forming a light, conditioning layer on the surface. It also contains naturally occurring fatty acids and antioxidants, which make it a useful supporting ingredient in moisturizers, cleansers, body oils, hair masks, and lip products.
For skin, Zea Mays Oil can be a good fit if you want a comfortable, nourishing feel without the heaviness of some richer oils. For hair, it may help add slip, tame frizz, and improve softness, especially in dry or coarse strands. People with normal to dry skin or hair often appreciate it most. That said, it may feel too rich for some very oily or acne-prone skin types, and as with any botanical ingredient, sensitivity is possible. It’s best thought of as a conditioning helper rather than a dramatic treatment ingredient.
