Description
Hydrogenated Phosphatidylcholine is a skin-friendly phospholipid derived from lecithin, usually from soy or sunflower, that has been hydrogenated to make it more stable in formulas. In skincare, it acts as an emulsifier and barrier-supporting ingredient, helping oil and water mix while also contributing to a smoother, more cushiony texture. Because phospholipids are similar to the lipids naturally found in skin, it can feel especially elegant in serums, creams, and cleansing products.
For skin, it’s mainly valued for helping support the moisture barrier and improving the spreadability and feel of a product. It may be a good fit for dry, dehydrated, or easily irritated-feeling skin, as well as anyone who likes lightweight but nourishing formulas. In hair care, it can help condition and improve slip, making strands feel softer and easier to manage. It’s generally well tolerated, but as with any ingredient, people with specific allergies or very reactive skin should check the full formula and patch test new products.
